Dr. David Bertone is a 1988 graduate of New York University's physical therapy program and received his Board Certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in 2005. In 2010, he received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the Evidence in Motion Institute of Health Professions.
Throughout his extensive 30-year career, Dr. Bertone has worked in many different practice environments but always focused on orthopedic rehabilitation. In 2008, he opened db Orthopedic Physical Therapy, PC to fulfill his desire to provide patients a unique, solo practice offering continuous and optimal evidence-based care. This approach utilizes the most up-to-date research to design a highly effective patient rehabilitation therapy program. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists as well as the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists. He has recently been trained in the clinical skill of Functional Dry Needling by the Kinetacore organization.
Dr. Bertone is a renowned and sought after expert in the practice of orthopedic physical therapy, specializing in the most current rehabilitation strategies. He was the past president of the New Jersey Society of Independent Physical Therapists where he was an advocate for the independent practice of physical therapy in New Jersey. In 2012, Dr.Bertone was nominated to the State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners by Governor Chris Christie and currently he is Chairman of the BPTE. In 2013, he became an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey teaching Doctoral Physical Therapy students about Concussion Management and the role of physical therapy in the complex world of concussions. In addition, he lectures nationally on concussion management as well as on rehabilitation following hip arthroscopy surgery. Jerry Moczerniuk, PT, DPT, OCS

Dr. Moczerniuk is a 2009 graduate of Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy at UMDNJ. Since graduation he has practiced predominantly in outpatient orthopedic setting. Some of his post graduate coursework included areas of running injuries, rehabilitation of the foot and ankle, manual approaches to lumbar and cervical pain. He prides himself in developing treatment approaches unique to individual needs of patients, based on evidence based practice. In the future he aspires to attain Board Certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. Jerry has played competitive soccer since high school and over the years has developed a passion for running. Dr. Moczerniuk was appointed Clinical Director of the Manalapan office when it opened in 2013 and became an equity partner in July 2020. Dr. Colella is a 2013 graduate of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey from the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Prior to relocating to the area, David practiced in a prominent orthopedic physical therapy group in Northern New Jersey. Since graduating, Dr. Colella has focused his post-graduate training in the area of orthopedic rehabilitation with a special interest in spinal conditions and sports-related injuries. He received advanced manual therapy training as a member of the Doctor Developmental program at Wayne Orthopedic Physical Therapy. Dr. Colella is available for appointments in our Red Bank office. Marisa Priolo, PT, DPT

Dr. Marisa Priolo is a 2019 graduate from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey's Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Prior to her doctoral studies, Dr.Priolo earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Health and Exercise Science from The College of New Jersey. While at Rutgers University, Dr. Priolo took part in a research project and publication that investigated the effects of virtual reality video games on enjoyment and exercise intensity in persons post-stroke. Additionally, she was involved as a Teaching Assistant for the DPT program's Gross Anatomy cadaver course. Since graduating, she has been focusing her post-graduate training in the area of orthopedic rehabilitation with special interest in concussion management and chronic neurological conditions. Outside of the clinic, she is committed to an active and healthy lifestyle through regular exercise, soccer, and outdoor activities. Jessica Filzen, PT, DPT, OCS

Dr. Jessica Filzen is a 2019 graduate from the Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Dr. Filzen also earned her Bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education from Monmouth University in 2016. While at Rutgers, Dr. Filzen was involved in a research project that examined if bicycling improved motor performance and reduced motor symptoms in individuals with Parkinson's Disease. Jessica spent her 10-week clinical affiliation at our Manalapan location and has been a part of our practice since 2019. She enjoys working with the elderly population and has designed an evidence-based fall prevention and balance screening program, which she implements into her daily practice. To further advance her knowledge in balance disorders and dizziness, Jessica completed an extensive course in vestibular rehabilitation and received her Certificate of Competency in Vestibular Rehabilitation in 2021. This has expanded Dr. Filzen's interest of treating patients with vestibular disorders. Jessica also demonstrates dedication to the profession, as she is continuously expanding her knowledge on orthopedic conditions and updated research. Dr. Filzen also takes on the role of a Clinical Instructor for Rutgers Physical Therapy students, as she also has a passion for teaching. She became a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) accredited by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in June 2022. Outside of treating patients, she enjoys practicing yoga, attending workout classes, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog. Kelly Haspel-Gutkes, PT, DPT, COMT

Dr. Haspel-Gutkes is a 2017 graduate of the Rutgers University Doctoral Physical Therapy program. Since graduation, Kelly has been treating in an orthopedic setting working very closely with orthopedic surgeons on developing post-op rehabilitation protocols and helping her patients achieve maximum function.
Dr Haspel-Gutkes's Vision... I am passionate about building a trustworthy and respectful relationship with my patients. They have my undivided attention and together, we are focused on achieving their goals. Through compassion and dedication, I am able to assist my patients in getting them back to their maximum functional ability.
Dr. Haspel-Gutkes has been preparing to become a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT). She is scheduled to take her final exam in Jan 2022. The Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) is a post-graduate specialization program designed for those physical therapists who decide to improve their manual therapy tools and skills, emphasizing advanced clinical reasoning, evidenced-informed and patient-centered approaches, examination, soft tissue management and joint-specific mobilization. Matthew Duncan, PT, DPT

Matt is a 2022 graduate from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey's Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Duncan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Kinesiology from Rutgers University - New Brunswick. Prior to beginning his career at our practice, Matt was a personal trainer for 6 years at a hospital-affiliated fitness and wellness center where he primarily worked with post-rehabilitation clients. Matt prides himself on helping others return to their prior levels of function, hobbies, and careers pain-free. Outside of treating patients, Matt enjoys weightlifting, DJ-ing, and attending sporting events. Mary Catherine joined the practice in 2017 in a role of Administrative Assistant to Dr. Moczerniuk in the Manalapan office. She is responsible for the front office functions including patient scheduling, insurance verification and collections as well as handling any issues involving the patient’s experience at our Manalapan office.
